The Tatra T613 was an automobile manufactured by
Tatra in the 1970's as a replacement to the Tatra T603 series and featured an all new body styled by
Vignale of
Italy and used a dohc
air-cooled V8 of 3.5 litres. The design was updated a further five times until being replaced by the
Tatra T700 in
1996, itself a restyled T613-5. A Tatra T613 was recently used in the film
Hostel set in
Slovakia. Tatra cars were in the whole eastern block famous and popular because of their reliability and their ability to drive on decrepit roads. However, before 1989, 613s were used mostly by communist party leaders.
