Tatars
Tatars (
Tatar: Tatarlar/Татарлар), sometimes spelled Tartar (more about the name), is a name for a
Turkic ethnic group of
Eastern Europe, as well as a collective name for other various peoples in
Asia.Most current day Tatars live in the central and southern parts of
Russia (the majority in
Tatarstan),
Ukraine,
Poland,
Moldova,
Lithuania,
Belarus and in
Bulgaria,
China,
Kazakhstan,
Romania,
Turkey, and
Uzbekistan. They collectively numbered more than 10 million in the late
20th century.The majority - in European
Russia - are descendants of Eastern European
Volga Bulgars who were conquered by the
Mongol invasion of the
13th century and kept the name of their conquerors. Tatars of
Siberia are survivors of the numerous
Turkic population of the
Ural-
Altaic region, mixed to some extent with the speakers of
Uralic languages, as well as with Mongols.

französisch steak tartare) oder Schabefleisch ist
Hackfleisch vom
Rind, das aus hochwertigem, sehnenfreiem und fettarmem Muskelfleisch wie
Filet hergestellt wird und feiner zerkleinert ist als einfaches Rinderhackfleisch. Tatar wird meist roh als Beefsteak tartare genossen. Zum ersten Mal belegt ist der Name in
Jules Vernes Abenteuerroman
Der Kurier des Zaren. Er spielt auf die
Tataren an, denen im Roman nachgesagt wird, sie hätten rohe Fleischstücke unter ihren Sätteln mürbe geritten und anschließend verzehrt (siehe auch
Pastirma).

Mittelalter eine Bezeichnung für verschiedene Völker und Bevölkerungsgruppen. So wurden in Europa die brandschatzenden und plündernden
Horden des
Dschingis Khan als Tartaren – „die aus der Hölle kommen“ (von griech.
Tartaros) – bezeichnet. Heute wird dieser Name vor allem für ein
Turkvolk gebraucht, das in vielen Teilen
Europas, insbesondere in der Republik
Tatarstan lebt.

Tatarzy (nazwa własna: Tatarlar / Татарлар)– grupa
ludów tureckich wschodniej Europy i
centralnej Azji.Tatarzy rozsiani są po ogromnych obszarach, głównie byłego
ZSRR. Dzielą się na kilka grup będących często osobnymi narodami. Najliczniejsi są Tatarzy zamieszkujący
Tatarstan, nazywani Tatarami Kazańskimi, Nadwołżańskimi, lub po prostu Tatarami. Niegdyś tworzyli oni
Chanat Kazański. Drugą dużą grupą są Tatarzy Krymscy. Stanowili oni lud rządzący
Chanatem Krymskim, to z tymi właśnie Tatarami walczyli Polacy w
XVI-
XVII wieku. Tatarzy Krymscy zostali wysiedleni z
Krymu przez władze
Rosji, zaś obecnie wracają na Krym (masowo od 1989 roku), gdzie mieszka już ponad 250 tys. osób. Mniejsze grupy Tatarów zamieszkują również
Syberię. Wszyscy Tatarzy są potomkami plemion tworzących
Złotą Ordę. Większość Tatarów wyznaje
islam, wielu
prawosławie. Niewielkie społeczności Tatarów osiedliły się na
Litwie i obecnie w
Polsce, na
Litwie i
Białorusi żyje społeczność tatarska. W
Polsce jej najliczniejszym skupiskiem jest
Podlasie (w tym
Białystok, gdzie żyje ich około dwóch tysięcy) oraz
Trójmiasto. Jedynie w
Bohonikach i
Kruszynianach na białostoczczyźnie występują meczety Tatarów.

Tataren
De Tataren (Perzisch: Tatar) zijn oorspronkelijk een
Mongoolse stam, maar bij uitbreiding wordt de term ook gebruikt voor diverse Mongoolse en
Turkse volken. Tegenwoordig is het de benaming voor een oorspronkelijk Mongools volk uit Rusland. De foutieve vorm Tartaren is in de Middeleeuwen in Europa ontstaan, wellicht door associatie met
Tartarus.
