Tarbes

Tarbes is a French town and commune, in the département of Hautes-Pyrénées, of which it is the préfecture. It is part of the historical region of Gascony. It is the second largest metropolitan area of Midi-Pyrénées, with 110,000 inhabitants.It is the seat of the diocese of Tarbes-et-Lourdes.

Tarbes ist eine französische Stadt und Verwaltungssitz des Départements Hautes-Pyrénées. Südlich von Tarbes liegt die Stadt und das Pilgerzentrum Lourdes. Tarbes hat etwa 46.000 Einwohner auf 15,33 Quadratkilometern und liegt am Adour. Tarbes ist ein lokaler Umschlagplatz für landwirtschaftliche Erzeugnisse. Im bekannten Gestüt werden seit 1808 die Tabais, ein englisch-arabisches Vollblut, gezüchtet. Zudem bestehen metallverarbeitende Betriebe sowie zahlreiche Stahlbauunternehmen.
