Tamil Nadu ( ) is one of the 28 states of India. Its capital is Chennai, the largest city. Tamil Nadu lies in the southernmost part of the Indian Peninsula and is bordered by the union territory of Pondicherry, and the states of Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. It is bound by the Eastern Ghats in the north, the Nilgiri, the Anamalai Hills, and Palakkad on the west, by the Bay of Bengal in the east, the Gulf of Mannar, the Palk Strait in the south east, and by the Indian Ocean in the south.

Tamil Nadu (Tamilisch: ; ; []; wörtl.: „Tamil-Land“) ist der südlichste Bundesstaat Indiens mit einer Fläche von 130.266 km² und 64.445.183 Einwohnern (Berechnung, Stand: 1. Januar 2006). Die Hauptstadt Tamil Nadus ist Chennai (ehemals Madras).

Tamil Nadu (hindi तमिल नाडु, trb.: Tamil Nadu, trl.: tamil nāḍu; tamilski தமிழ் நாடு; ang. Tamil Nadu) - jeden ze stanów Indii, położony w ich południowej części, zamieszkany głównie przez Tamilów, lud pochodzenia drawidyjskiego. Stolicą stanu, a zarazem największym miastem jest Madras (w latach 90. nazwa miasta uległa zmianie na Chennai). Stan został utworzony 18 lipca 1967 roku.
