Taliban

The Taliban ( , also anglicized as Taleban) are a Sunni Muslim Pashtun movement that ruled most of Afghanistan from 1995 until 2001, when their leaders were removed from power by a cooperative military effort between the United States, United Kingdom and the Northern Alliance. Committed fundamentalist insurgents, often described as "Taliban" in the media, originating in the Frontier Tribal Areas of Pakistan, are currently engaged in a protracted guerrilla war and terrorist campaign against the current government of Afghanistan and allied NATO forces.

Un taliban (طالب [ṭālib], « étudiant » ou « chercheur », pl. طلاب [ṭullāb] en arabe ; طالب [ṭɔˑˈlɛb], pl. طالبـان [ṭɔˑlɛˈbɔˑn] en paṣto) est une personne qui adhère à un mouvement fondamentaliste musulman   et qui s'est répandu au Pakistan et surtout en Afghanistan en octobre 1994.

Taliban, طالبان (persischer Plural von arabisch talib „Student“), bezeichnet eine Gruppe islamistischer Fundamentalisten, von denen viele Anführer und Mitglieder in islamistischen Schulen in Pakistan von der Patan-Bevölkerung wie den Ahmadzeis, die hohe Ämter innehaben, ausgebildet wurden. Praxis und Ideologie der Taliban sind sehr stark vom radikal-orthodoxen Islam (siehe Wahhabismus) und vom paschtunischen Nationalismus (siehe Paschtunwali) geprägt.

Il termine "Talebani" (in pashto: طالبان, Ṭālibān, pronunciato Ṭālebān, plurale di ṭālib "studente"), indica chi studia nelle scuole coraniche. Sviluppatisi come movimento politico e militare in seguito all'invasione sovietica dell'Afghanistan, i talebani sono noti per essersi fatti portatori dell'ideale politico-religioso che vorrebbe recuperare tutto il portato culturale, sociale, giuridico ed economico dell'Islam (almeno come da essi stessi inteso e interpretato) per costituire uno Stato teocratico.
