Tae Kwon Do

Taekwondo (also, Tae Kwon Do, Taekwon-Do, or Tae Kwon-Do) is a martial art and combat sport originating in Korea. Taekwondo is the national sport of South Korea and sparring, kyeorugi, is an Olympic sporting event. In Korean, derived from hanja, tae (跆) means to destroy with the feet; kwon (拳) means to strike or smash with the hand; and do (道) means "path", "way" or "method". Hence, taekwondo is loosely translated as "the way of the feet and fist".

Le taekwondo (taegwondo selon la romanisation révisée du coréen, 태권도 en hangeul) est un art martial d'origine coréenne, dont le nom peut se traduire par La voie du pied et du poing (tae (태), frapper du pied - kwon (권), frapper du poing - do (도), voie). Le pratiquant de taekwondo est appelé un taekwondoïste ou taekwon-doin. Le fondateur et principal promoteur du taekwondo est le Général Choi Hong-hi.

Taekwondo (auch Tae-Kwon-Do oder Taekwon-Do) ist ein koreanischer Kampfsport und steht für Fuß (Tae), Faust (Kwon) und Weg (Do, hier ist der Weg des Geistes gemeint). Obwohl Taekwondo für den laienhaften Betrachter große Ähnlichkeiten mit anderen asiatischen Kampfsportarten aufweist, unterscheidet es sich in einigen wesentlichen Punkten von diesen. So ist die Taekwondo-Technik sehr auf Schnelligkeit und Dynamik ausgelegt, was nicht zuletzt durch den Wettkampf bedingt ist. Im Taekwondo dominieren Fußtechniken deutlicher als in vergleichbaren Kampfsportarten.
