TELECONNECTION
(Meteorology) A term which describes the influence of an aberration in weather patterns in one part of the world to cause strange weather in another area of the globe. Also see El Niño, El Niño/Southern Oscillation (ENSO), and Hurricane Forecasting.
teleconnection
The phenomenon in which weather patterns in one region influence the weather patterns in a distant location. One of the most noted teleconnection patterns is the Pacific North America (PNA) pattern, where tropical circulations associated with El Niño are correlated with weather pattern anomalies across North America.
