System Of A Down

System of a Down (also referred to as System or abbreviated as SOAD) is a four-piece American rock band, formed in 1995 in Los Angeles, California. All four members are of Armenian descent, grandsons of Armenian Genocide survivors, and are widely known for their outspoken views found in many of their songs. System of a Down has achieved commercial success over five albums, with singles such as "Chop Suey!", "Aerials", "B.Y.O.B.", and "Hypnotize". Their works have earned them one Grammy Award amongst four nominations. System of a Down is a part of the Axis of Justice, a non-profit organization formed by band member Serj Tankian (along with Tom Morello) that is dedicated to bringing together musicians, music fans, and grassroots political organizations to fight for social justice.

I System of a Down (abbreviato S.O.A.D.) sono un gruppo alternative metal statunitense, formatosi a Los Angeles nel 1995.I componenti sono tutti originari dell'Armenia, e discendono dai superstiti del genocidio subito dal loro popolo, di cui parlano in molte canzoni. Nonostante l'origine comune dei quattro membri del gruppo, solo il bassista Shavo Odadjian è nato in Armenia, il 22 aprile 1974 a Yerevan, capitale del piccolo stato transcaucasico. Si fanno notare per le numerose influenze stilistiche, ma anche per l'impegno sociale e politico. Insieme al chitarrista Tom Morello guidano l'organizzazione non profit Axis of Justice, che riunisce associazioni politiche, fans e musicisti di varia estrazione per difendere la giustizia sociale.
