Two or more nineteenth century sailing vessels bore the name Sydney Packet: Sydney Packet, a ship owned by Alexander Birnie & Co. of London, involved in trading with New South Wales.Sydney Packet (1826-1837) A two-masted schooner of 84 tons, built in Sydney in 1826. Her captain was James Bruce. She was later purchased by John Jones (1809-1869), and outfitted as a bay whaler. She was wrecked at MoerakiOtago, 17 July of 1837.
