Swedish people

This may be due to inclusion in Swedish culture, speaking the Swedish language, or being of Swedish descent.The largest area inhabited by Swedes, as well as the earliest known original area inhabited by their linguistic ancestors, is on the eastern side of the Scandinavian Peninsula and the islands adjacent to it, situated west of the Baltic Sea in northern Europe. The Swedish-speaking people living in near-coastal areas on the north-eastern and eastern side of the Baltic Sea also have a long history of continuous settlement, which in some of these areas possibly started about a millennium ago. These people include the Swedish-speaking Finns - who consist of the Swedish-speaking minority in mainland Finland speaking Finland Swedish and the almost exclusively Swedish-speaking population of the Åland Islands speaking in a manner closer to the adjacent dialects in Sweden than to adjacent dialects of Finland Swedish - and the small Swedish-speaking minority in Estonia. Smaller groups of historical descendants of 18th-19th century Swedish emigrants who still retain some forms of Swedish identity to this day can be found in the Americas and in Ukraine.

Die Schweden bilden den Großteil der Bevölkerung des gleichnamigen Landes Schweden. Von den 9 Millionen Einwohnern sind 90,8 % Schweden. Die Schweden sprechen  Schwedisch, das zu den germanischen Sprachen gehört. Die Nachfahren der im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert vor allem in den USA ausgewanderten 1,2 Millionen Schweden haben heute in der Regel keine sprachliche oder kulturelle Anknüpfung an Schweden. Die früher in Estland ansässige schwedische Minderheit (Estlandschweden) floh zum Ende des 2. Weltkrieges in der Mehrzahl nach Schweden.

Szwedzi to naród germański mieszkający głównie w Szwecji (około 9 mln), zachodniej i południowo-zachodniej Finlandii (około 300 tys.) oraz w krajach skandynawskich, w USA (ponad 4 miliony ludzi pochodzenia szwedzkiego) i Kanadzie. Około 90%, schrystianizowanych w XI-XII wieku, Szwedów należy od XVI wieku do Szwedzkiego Kościoła Ewangelicko-Luterańskiego (przed paroma laty doszło do separacji kościoła od państwa). Większość z nich jest niepraktykująca. Posługują się językiem szwedzkim.

De Zweden (Zweeds: svenskar) zijn een etnische groep die onderdeel is van de Noord-Germaanse volken. De directe voorouders van de Zweden en de andere Germaanse Scandinaviërs zijn de Vikingen. Er is geen eenduidige definitie van de Zweedse etniciteit en daarom wordt bij Zweedse volkstellingen geen poging gedaan om deze etnische groep te tellen. Zweden wonen vooral in Zweden (9 miljoen) en in de Verenigde Staten (4 miljoen mensen van Zweedse origine). Ook zijn er kleine gemeenschappen in Canada (300.000) en Finland (300.000).

Шведы — народ, говорящий на  шведском языке, основное население Королевства Швеция. Численность — около 9 млн. человек. В самой Швеции проживает ок. 8,5 млн. чел.Значительное шведское меньшинство проживает в  Финляндии, живут также в США и Канаде. Как нация сформировались на основе единения на рубеже I—II тысячелетий н. э. гётов и свеев (основных групп племен). От названия последней племенной группы произошло русское название страны — Швеция.
