He received his early education in religion, modern culture and diplomacy along with his brothers at the royal court. Prince Sultan was appointed Governor of Riyadh in 1947. He became Minister of Agriculture in 1953 and Minister of Communications in 1955. It was during this period that he oversaw the construction of the Kingdom's rail link between Dammam and Riyadh, as well as the building of roads and other transport links.

Sultan bin Abdulaziz al Saud (ur. 5 stycznia 1928 w Rijadzie) – następca tronu Arabii Saudyjskiej i pierwszy wicepremier rządu saudyjskiego.W roku 1947 został gubernatorem Rijadu, w roku 1953 ministrem rolnictwa, a w roku 1955 ministrem transportu. Nadzorował budowę trasy kolejowej pomiędzy Dammam i Rijadem oraz budowę dróg i innych połączeń komunikacyjnych. W roku 1962 został ministrem obrony i lotnictwa i zajął się tworzeniem armii saudyjskiej, zapewniając królestwu nowoczesne i dobrze wyposażone środki obronne. W roku 1982 jego brat, król Fahd, powołał go na stanowisko drugiego wicepremiera rządu – jest to funkcja, którą królowie Fahd i Abdullah sprawowali tuż przed otrzymaniem tytułu następcy tronu. Tytuł ten otrzymał 1 sierpnia 2005, po śmierci króla Fahda, pomimo pogłosek o jego konflikcie z nowym królem Abdullahem.

Kroonprins Sultan bin Abdul Aziz al Saud (Arabisch:صاحب السمو الملكي الأمير سلطان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود) (Riyad, 5 januari 1928) is de kroonprins van Saoedi-Arabië. Hij werd net als zijn broers opgeleid aan het hof. Prins Sultan werd in 1947 tot Gouverneur van Riyad benoemd. Hij werd Minister van Landbouw in 1953 en Minister van Communicatie in 1955. In deze tijd legde hij de spoorlijn tussen Damman en Riyad aan, naast veel wegen en andere verbindingen.
