Sub Pop

Sub Pop is a record label in Seattle, Washington that achieved fame in the 1990s for first signing Nirvana, Soundgarden, Mudhoney and many other bands from the local Seattle music scene. They are often credited with taking the first steps towards popularizing grunge music, and have continued to achieve critical and commercial success in the new millennium, with popular indie bands such as The Postal Service and The Shins on their roster. Though often called an independent music label, Sub Pop is 49% owned by Warner Music Group, one of the largest major record labels in the world. They own a 5% stake in the Alternative Distribution Alliance, with Warner Music Group owning the other 95%.

Sub Pop est un label de musique indépendant crée par Bruce Pavitt et Jonathan Poneman à Seattle dans l'État de Washington, aux États-Unis et qui accompagna les beaux jours du grunge. Parmi leurs faits de gloire figure la production du premier album du groupe Nirvana, Bleach en 1989 ainsi que plus récemment les albums du groupe The Shins. Il est détenu à 49% par la major Warner.

La Sub Pop è un'etichetta discografica di Seattle, Washington che raggiunse la notorietà negli anni 90 per avere per prima scritturato band come Nirvana, Soundgarden, Mudhoney e molte altre della scena del grunge. L'etichetta è largamente riconosciuta come una delle prime a far conoscere il grunge. Attualmente è partecipata al 49% dal  Warner Music Group, una delle principali case discografiche al mondo.
