The Styx (, also meaning "hate" and "detestation") (adjectival form: Stygian, ) is a river in Greek mythology that formed the boundary between Earth and the Underworld (often called Hades which is also the name of this domain's ruler). The rivers Styx, Phlegethon, Acheron, and Cocytus all converge at the center of the underworld on a great marsh, which is also sometimes called the Styx. The other important rivers of the underworld are Lethe, Eridanos, and Alpheus.

Styx (griech. Στύξ – Fluss des Hasses) ist in der griechischen Mythologie neben Acheron, Lethe, Kokytos, Phlegethon und Eridanus ein Fluss der Unterwelt und eine Flussgöttin, Tochter des Okeanos und der Tethys (siehe Stammbaum der griechischen Götter), an anderer Stelle auch Tochter der Nyx und des Erebos. Im Griechischen ist die Styx weiblich, was für griechische Flussnamen selten ist. Im Deutschen sind beide Geschlechter – sowohl der als auch die Styx – geläufig.

Styx ist eine Rockgruppe aus Chicago (USA), die vor allem während der 1970er und 1980er Weltruhm erlangte. Styx gehört zu den bekanntesten Vertretern des Adult-oriented Rock.

Young (wokalista i gitarzysta), Todd Sucherman (perkusista), Lawrence Gowan (wokalista i klawiszowiec), Ricky Phillips (basista i wokalista) i Chuck Panozzo (basista). Grupa wydała 15 albumów studyjnych.

Styx (gr. ) – w  mitologii greckiej główna rzeka w podziemnym świecie, przez którą miała przeprawić się każda zmarła dusza w drodze do krainy o nazwie Hades. Przez Styks przewoził Charon. Rzeka wypływała z Oceanu. Wpadały do niej wody rzeki Kokytos. Starożytni wyobrażali sobie Styx jako nimfę, córkę Hidana i Kakuzu. Miała ona być matką Zelosa, Nike, Bii i Kratosa. Przyszła jako pierwsza z pomocą Zeusowi wysyłając swoje dzieci przeciw Tytanom. W dowód wdzięczności Zeus pozwolił im na stałe zostać przy sobie, a Styks stała się bóstwem, na które składano najuroczystsze przysięgi.
