Stromboli

Stromboli is a small island in the Tyrrhenian Sea, off the north coast of Sicily, containing one of the three active volcanoes in Italy. It is one of the Aeolian Islands, a volcanic arc north of Sicily. This name is a corruption of the ancient Greek name which was given to it because of its round swelling form. The island has a population in between 400 and 750.

Der Stromboli ist eine italienische Insel mit dem noch aktiven Vulkan vom Typ eines Schlackenkegels. Er liegt im Mittelmeer nördlich von Sizilien.Stromboli gehört mit seinen Nachbarinseln Lipari, Salina, Vulcano, Panarea, Filicudi und Alicudi zur Inselgruppe der Äolischen oder Liparischen Inseln (Isole Eolie) im Tyrrhenischen Meer.Die Höhe der steil aus dem Wasser aufragenden, nahezu kegelförmigen Insel beträgt vom Meeresspiegel aus ca. 926 m (andere Quellen sagen 918 m bzw. 968 m) vom Meeresgrund ragt der Vulkankegel etwa 3000 m auf. Die Fläche der Insel beträgt nur ca. 12,6 Quadratkilometer, was für diese Höhe ungewöhnlich ist.

Stromboli - wyspa w archipelagu Wysp Liparyjskich (część Włoch), położona na Morzu Tyrreńskim. Na wyspie wznosi się czynny wulkan o wysokości 926 m n.p.m. (podwodna część wznosi się z głębokości ok. 2300 m p.p.m.) i tworzy wysepkę o tej samej nazwie mającą powierzchnię blisko 12,4 km² i zbudowaną z  ryolitów, bazaltów i andezytów. Na wyspie mieszka ok 600 osób.
