Tram
A tram (also known. as a tramcar, streetcar, trolley car) is a passenger rail vehicle which runs on tracks along public urban streets and also sometimes on separate rights of way. It may also run between cities and/or towns (interurbans, tram-train), and/or partially grade separated even in the cities (light rail). Trams very occasionally also carry freight.

Tramway
Le tramway /tʁa.mwɛ/ (ou tram) est une forme de  transport en commun urbain ou interurbain circulant sur des voies ferrées équipées de rails plats (alors que ceux des trains sont légèrement inclinés vers l'intérieur de la voie) et qui est implantée en site propre ou encastrée à l'aide de rails à gorge dans la voirie routière. Aujourd'hui, il est généralement à traction électrique.

Tramwaj
Tramwaj (z ang. tram way) – pojazd szynowy służący do transportu miejskiego, poruszający się w ruchu mieszanym po jezdni lub na wydzielonym albo niezależnym torowisku.

Obecnie tramwaje zwykle napędzane są silnikami elektrycznymi zasilanymi z sieci trakcyjnej, chociaż spotyka się też konstrukcje hybrydowe posiadające silnik spalinowy lub akumulatory pozwalające na jazdę bez zewnętrznego źródła zasilania. Dawniej używano również tramwajów konnych, napędzanych silnikiem parowym lub spalinowym, jak również systemów z napędem stacjonarnym (San Francisco), wagonów akumulatorowych lub napędzanych silnikami pneumatycznymi.
