Stord

Stord is a municipality in the county of Hordaland, Norway.Stord was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). Fitjar was separated from Stord in 1860. Valestrand was separated from Stord in 1868.The municipality is the one with the highest population in the district of Sunnhordland. Stord was declared a town in 1997.

Stord est une kommune et une île norvégienne située entre Bergen et Haugesund, dans le Hordaland. Bien que la ville principale de l'ile soit Leirvik, la kommune ne porte pas son nom.

Stord ist eine Kommune im norwegischen Fylke Hordaland. Sie liegt auf der Insel Stord, wo sie nördlich an die ebenfalls auf der Insel Stord liegende Kommune Fitjar grenzt. Weiterhin zur Kommune gehören Inseln Huglo, Storsøya und Tanøy sowie viele kleine Inseln und Holme. Die Kommune gehört zur Landschaft Sunnhordland. Stord kommt aus der norrönen Sprache und bedeutet in etwa "der Aufgerichtete".
