Stewie Speer

Stewie Speer (Stewart Speer, June 26 1928-September 16 1986) was Australian drummer who is best known as a member of the 1960s-70s Australian group Max Merritt & The Meteors. Like Charlie Watts, Speer was one of many Australian musicians who began their career in jazz ut later branched out into the rock scene, and like other contemporary Australian jazz musicians who worked in popular music -– Bob Bertles, Bernie McGann, Warren Daly, Bobby Gebert, Don Burrows –- he was known for his ability to work across many musical genres.
