Stamford, Connecticut

Stamford is a city in Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States. According to 2006 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 119,261, making it the fourth largest city in the state. Its population is growing due to an influx of jobs and its close proximity to New York City. Stamford is part of the New York metropolitan area.

Secondo il censimento del 2004 la città conta 120.226 abitanti. Stamford si colloca al terzo posto, subito dopo Chicago e New York, per numero di grosse aziende presenti, incluse nelle "Fortune 500". Le più importanti aziende con sede a Stamford sono: GE Commercial Finance, UBS AG, International Paper, Purdue Pharma, Pitney Bowes, World Wrestling Entertainment, Clairol, Xerox ed Hyperion. Secondo l'FBI, nel primo semestre del 2004, Stamford era la più sicura tra le città con oltre 100.000 abitanti negli Stati Uniti.
