Stahlhelm

Stahlhelm (plural, Stahlhelme) is German for "steel helmet". The Imperial German Army began to replace the traditional leather Pickelhaube (spiked helmet) with the Stahlhelm during the First World War in 1916. The term Stahlhelm refers both to a generic steel helmet, and more specifically to the distinctive (and symbolic) German design.

Stahlhelm, terme allemand signifiant casque d'acier, qui désigne le casque de forme allemande, développé vers la fin du en fer forgé et réintroduit à la fin de 1915, en acier, pour remplacer le Casque à pointe, fabriqué en cuir, sur le champ de bataille. Il est un élément constitutif de l’image du soldat allemand de la Seconde Guerre mondiale.

Ein Stahlhelm ist eine aus Stahl bestehende, militärische Kopfbedeckung, die primär Schutz vor Granatsplittern bieten soll. Im Verlauf des Ersten Weltkriegs führten die Armeen der europäischen Großmächte derartige Helme ein. Im engeren Sinne sind mit der Bezeichnung Stahlhelm nur die deutschen Formen dieses Helmtypus gemeint, jedoch hat sich der Begriff mittlerweile für jeden aus Stahl hergestellten militärischen Helm durchgesetzt.

Stahlhelm – rodzaj popularnego hełmu wojskowego, którego nazwa pochodzi z niemieckiego (Stahlhelm oznacza “hełm stalowy”). Stahlhelm wszedł do użycia w 1916 r. kiedy to zastąpił pikielhaubę wcześniej używaną w armii II Rzeszy.Opracowanie nowej konstrukcji hełmu wojskowego dla armii niemieckiej zostało wymuszone masowym użyciem ciężkiej i szybkostrzelnej artylerii na polach I wojny światowej. Odłamki, które trafiały w głowy żołnierzy powodowały trudne do wyleczenia rany a często były śmiertelne. Skórzane kaski (które stosowali Niemcy) i zwykłe płóciane czapki (stosowane przez aliantów) nie stanowiły żadnej ochrony przed szrapnelami. Jako pierwsza zareagowała na to armia francuska wprowadzając na wyposażenie w końcu 1915 r. tzw. hełm Adriana. Później również Brytyjczycy zaczęli chronić głowy swoich żołnierzy hełmem Brody’ego, który został zapożyczony także przez Amerykanów.

Stahlhelm, Bund der Frontsoldaten (tedesco: "Elmetti d'acciaio, Lega dei soldati del fronte") fu un'organizzazione Freikorps paramilitare nata in Germania al termine della Prima guerra mondiale durante la Repubblica di Weimar.Fondati alla fine del 1918 da Franz Seldte a Magdeburgo, presero il nome dal giornale Stahlhelm edito dal Conte Hans-Jürgen von Blumenthal, in seguito impiccato per la parte avuta nel Complotto del 20 luglio. L'organizzazione, che nel 1930 raggiunse i 500.000 membri, divenendo in tal modo il più importante Freikorps, annoverava tra le sue fila numerosi reduci dal fronte, nazionalisti ed elementi contrari alla Repubblica di Weimar, e fautori del ritorno della monarchia.
