South Australia

South Australia is a state of Australia in the southern central part of the country. It covers some of the most arid parts of the continent and with a total land area of 984,377 square kilometres (380,070 sq mi), it is the fourth largest of Australia's eight states and territories. It is bordered to the west by Western Australia, to the north by the Northern Territory and Queensland, to the east by Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, and along the south by the Great Australian Bight and the Indian Ocean. With 1.5 million people, the state comprises less than 10 per cent of the Australian population and ranks fifth in population among the states and territories. The majority of its people reside in the state capital, Adelaide, with most of the remainder settled in fertile areas along the south-eastern coast and River Murray.

Stolicą Australii Południowej jest Adelajda, znana jako "City of Churches" (Miasto kościołów). Australia Południowa została założona jako kolonia Wielkiej Brytanii w 1836r. i przyłączyła się do Związku Australijskiego (Australii) w 1901. Ludność Południowej Australii to w przybliżeniu 1,53 milionów osób (2004), większość z nich mieszka w stolicy stanu, w pobliżu brzegu oceanu i wzdłuż rzeki Murray .

L'Australia Meridionale (South Australia in inglese) è uno stato dell'Australia situato nella parte centromeridionale del continente australiano. Occupa una zona di 984.377 di km² (380.070 miglia quadrate). La capitale è Adelaide ed è conosciuto come la città delle chiese (the city of churches). L'Australia Meridionale diventò una colonia britannica nel 1836 entrando a far parte del Commonwealth dell'Australia nel 1901.
