Somalia ( ; ; ), officially the Somali Republic (, ) and formerly known as the Somali Democratic Republic under Socialist rule, is a country located in the Horn of Africa. Since the outbreak of the Somali Civil War in 1991 there has been no central government control over most of the country's territory. The internationally recognized Transitional Federal Government controls only a small part of the country. Somalia has been characterized as a failed state and is one of the poorest and most violent states in the world.

Somalia (Somali: Soomaaliya; ) ist ein Staat im äußersten Osten Afrikas, am Horn von Afrika. Es grenzt an den Indischen Ozean im Osten, dessen Golf von Aden im Norden, Dschibuti und Äthiopien im Westen und Kenia im Süden. Der Landesname ist vom Volk der Somali abgeleitet, das die große Bevölkerungsmehrheit stellt und auch in den Nachbarländern ansässig ist.

Somalia, formellt Republiken Somalia, är ett land på Afrikas horn som gränsar till Djibouti i norr, Etiopien i väster och Kenya i sydväst. I norr har landet en kustlinje mot Adenviken och i öster och söder mot Indiska oceanen.

Somalia, Republika Somalijska – państwo w północno-wschodniej części Afryki położone na Półwyspie Somalijskim (zwanym „Rogiem Afryki”). Przylega do Oceanu Indyjskiego i Zatoki Adeńskiej. Na północnym zachodzie graniczy z Dżibuti, na zachodzie z Etiopią, zaś na południowym zachodzie z Kenią. Północna część kraju w 1991 ogłosiła niezależność jako Somaliland.
