Sociolinguistics

Sociolinguistics is the study of the effect of any and all aspects of society, including cultural norms, expectations, and context on the way language is used. Sociolinguistics overlaps to a considerable degree with pragmatics.It also studies how lects differ between groups separated by certain social variables, e.g., ethnicity, religion, status, gender, level of education, etc., and how creation and adherence to these rules is used to categorize individuals in social class or socio-economic classes. As the usage of a language varies from place to place (dialect), language usage varies among social classes, and it is these sociolects that sociolinguistics studies.

Die Soziolinguistik ist eine Spezialisierung innerhalb der Linguistik, die sich mit kultur- und gesellschaftsspezifischen Sprachformen beschäftigt. Diese linguistische Disziplin steht in einer engen Beziehung mit der Angewandten Sprachwissenschaft, der allgemeinen Linguistik sowie der historisch-vergleichenden Linguistik. Sie weist weiters Überschneidungen mit der Soziologie, der Anthropologie, der Sozialpsychologie und der Erziehungswissenschaft auf. Der Gegenstand der soziolinguistischen Untersuchungen ist die soziale Bedeutung sprachlicher Systeme und der Variationen des Sprachgebrauchs.

Socjolingwistyka - dział językoznawstwa, który bada społeczne znaczenie (wariantów) systemu językowego oraz użycia języka. Zajmuje się także związkami między faktami językowymi a społecznymi. Bierze pod uwagę kontekst, w jakim zachodzą akty komunikacji. Ujmuje wszystkie czynniki aktu komunikacyjnego. Bada związki zachodzące między użyciem języka a strukturami społecznymi, w których funkcjonują użytkownicy języka. Język jest zróżnicowany a w socjolingwistyce bierze się pod uwagę jak fakty językowe i społeczne splatają się. Przedmiot badań socjolingwistycznych da się wyrazić za pomocą formuły : "kto, do kogo, w jakiej sytuacji i w jakim celu mówi." Każdy z tych czynników może wpływać na kształt wypowiedzi. Socjolingwistyka to dyscyplina raczej nowa. Choć nazwa powstała w latach 50. XX w. to badania przypisywane socjolingwistyce były punktem zainteresowania innych dziedzin nauki.
