Socialist Unity Party of Germany

The Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) (German: Sozialistische Einheitspartei Deutschlands) was the governing party of the German Democratic Republic from its formation on 7 October 1949 until the elections of March 1990. The SED was a Communist political party with a Marxist-Leninist ideology, with a definite bent towards Stalinism through much of its earlier history. In the 1980s, the SED rejected the winds of change emanating from the Soviet Union, such as Perestroika and Glasnost, and also failed to react positively to the growing discontent among the population of the GDR concerning its policies, particularly those in the areas of economics, personal liberty and the freedom to travel, which eventually led to the party's downfall in the fall of 1989.

Die Sozialistische Einheitspartei Deutschlands (SED) war eine in der ehemaligen sowjetischen Besatzungszone aus der SPD und der KPD 1946 hervorgegangene politische Partei. Sie entwickelte sich dort unter Einfluss der sowjetischen Besatzungsmacht zur führenden Partei in Form einer kommunistischen Kaderpartei, zur so genannten „Staatspartei“. Aufgrund der umfassenden Durchdringung der Organe aller drei Gewalten mit SED-Nomenklaturkadern wird das politische System der DDR auch als „Parteidiktatur“ bezeichnet.

Niemiecka Socjalistyczna Partia Jedności (NSPJ, niem. Sozialistische Einheitspartei Deutschlands, SED) - partia polityczna sprawująca rządy w Niemieckiej Republice Demokratycznej (NRD).SED powstała w 1946 roku z połączenia Komunistycznej Partii Niemiec (KPD) i Socjaldemokratycznej Partii Niemiec (SPD), które odbyło się pod naciskiem okupacyjnych sił radzieckich. SED była partią hegemoniczną.Właściwe tłumaczenie nazwy tej partii to Socjalistyczna Partia Jedności Niemiec. Nazwa ta w okresie od zakończenia II wojny światowej do powstania RFN i NRD (1946-1949) symbolizować miała dążenie wschodnioniemieckich komunistów do reprezentowania całego państwa niemieckiego, a do budowy muru berlińskiego w 1961 roku symbolizowała oficjalny postulat pracy na rzecz zjednoczenia kraju. Wraz z pogłębianiem się podziału Niemiec SED usunęła te akcenty ze swojej polityki. Nazwy partii nie zmieniono, natomiast zrezygnowano np. ze śpiewania tekstu hymnu Niemieckiej Republiki Demokratycznej, mówiącego o zjednoczonej ojczyźnie.

La Sozialistische Einheitspartei Deutschlands, o SED ( Partito Socialista Unificato di Germania), fu il partito principale della Repubblica Democratica Tedesca. Governò dal 1949, anno nel quale venne fondata la Repubblica Democratica Tedesca, fino alle elezioni politiche del 1990.La SED, venne creato nel 1946 da un gruppo politico formato da membri del Partito Socialdemocratico di germania (SPD) e da membri del Partito Comunista di Germania (KPD), residenti nella parte di Germania occupata dai Sovietici e nel settore berlinese anch'esso occupato dall'esercito sovietico e che si ispirarono agli ideali del socialismo sovietico.
