Smarta

Smartism (or Smarta Sampradaya, Smarta Tradition, as termed in Sanskrit), a newly-coined term derived from the word smarta by the shaivite guru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami, refers to a denomination of the Hindu religion. The term Smarta refers to adherents who follow the Vedas and Shastras. They mainly follow the Advaita Vedanta philosophy of Adi Shankara. But there have been instances when they have advocated or followed other philosophies.

Smartyzm, (lub Smarta Sampradaja, czyli Tradycja Smarty), to jeden z odłamów hinduizmu (obok wisznuizmu, śiwaizmu i śaktyzmu), cechujący się kultowym henoteizmem i katenoteizmem (zdania na ten temat są jednak podzielone i część osób uważa to za kierunek monistyczny).

Smartisme is een denominatie in het hindoeïsme die nauw samenhangt met de advaita traditie. Het smartisme is een monistisch geloof. Smarta's (de volgelingen bij het smartisme) accepteren en vereren de voornaamste vormen van God zoals Ganesh, Shiva, Vishnu, Surya en Skanda. Het smartisme is een weg van meditatie en filosofie en wordt over het algemeen beschouwd als liberaal en niet-sektarisch.

Smärta definieras av den internationella smärtorganisationen International Association for the Study of Pain, IASP, som "En obehaglig sensorisk och/eller känslomässig upplevelse förenad med vävnadsskada eller hotande vävnadsskada, eller beskriven i termer av sådan".
