Slovenian tolar
The tolar was the currency of Slovenia from 1991 until December 312006. It was subdivided into 100 stotinov. The ISO 4217 currency code for the Slovenian tolar was SIT. The name tolar comes from Thaler, and is cognate with dollar. As Slovenian is one of the few languages with a grammatical dual, the correct inflections of the word "tolar" are 2 tolarja for 2 SIT, but tolarji for 3 or 4 SIT. For 5 SIT or more, the word tolarjev, genitive plural of tolar, is used.
