Slovenia

Slovenia, officially the Republic of Slovenia (, ), is a  country in southern Central Europe bordering Italy to the west, the Adriatic Sea to the southwest, Croatia to the south and east, Hungary to the northeast, and Austria to the north. The capital of Slovenia is Ljubljana. At various points in Slovenia's history, the country has been part of the Roman Empire, the Duchy of Carantania (only modern Slovenia's northern part), the Holy Roman Empire, Austria-Hungary, the State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs, the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (renamed the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in 1929) between the World Wars, and the SFR of Yugoslavia from 1945 until gaining independence in 1991. Slovenia is a member of the European Union, the Council of Europe and NATO.

Slowenien (slowenisch Slovenija) ist eine Republik in Europa, die an Italien, Österreich, Ungarn, Kroatien und die Adria grenzt. Das Land wurde am 1. Mai 2004 als eines von zehn Beitrittsländern ein Mitgliedstaat der  Europäischen Union (siehe: EU-Erweiterung 2004). Am 1. Januar 2007 wurde der Euro eingeführt, der den slowenischen Tolar ablöste. Seit dem 1. Januar 2008 hat Slowenien für sechs Monate die EU-Ratspräsidentschaft (2008/I) inne.

La Slovenia [zlo'vɛnja] (Repubblica Slovena; Republika Slovenija in sloveno) è uno stato dell'Europa centrale, che confina con Italia a ovest, Austria a nord, Ungheria ad est, Croazia a sud e ad est ed è bagnata dal Mar Adriatico a sudovest (Golfo di Trieste). La capitale è Lubiana. In Slovenia c'è un'importante presenza italiana nella parte istriana, ungherese ad est ed una crescente immigrazione serba e bosniaca. La moneta è l'euro, che dal 1° gennaio 2007 è subentrato al tallero sloveno. La festa nazionale ricorre il 25 giugno, anniversario della dichiarazione d'indipendenza del 1991.
