Ski

A ski is a long flat device worn on the feet designed to help the wearer slide smoothly over snow. Originally intended as an aid to travel in snowy regions, they are now primarily used for recreational and sporting purposes. Also, a ski may denote a similar device used for other purposes than skiing, e.g., for steering snowmobiles.

Ein Ski oder (vor allem in Bayern und Österreich) Schi ist ein brettförmiges Sportgerät zur Fortbewegung auf Schnee, das mit einer Bindung an den Skistiefeln oder -schuhen befestigt wird. Jeder Ski hat eine Lauffläche und eine Schaufel. Die Form der Skier unterscheidet sich nach der damit ausgeübten Sportart. Der mit Skiern ausgeübte Sport heißt Skisport.

Uno sci è un attrezzo lungo e piatto indossato ai piedi per aiutare a scivolare sulla neve. In origine è nato per aiutare gli spostamenti nelle regioni nevose mentre attualmente è utilizzato per scopi ricreativi e sportivi. Lo scorrimento sulla neve avviene grazie al calore prodotto dall'attrito con la pressione esercitata dallo sci, che scioglie la neve sotto lo sci formando un sottile velo d'acqua. Per questo, se il fondo dello sci è congelato, non scorre sulla neve fino a che non viene asportato il ghiaccio. Per alzare il punto di congelamente dell'acqua sotto lo sci, sono utilizzate delle cere (la sciolina).
