Skała to zespół minerałów lub wiele ziaren tego samego minerału, powstały w warunkach naturalnych. Wynika stąd, że do skał nie można zaliczyć betonu i innych materiałów wytwarzanych przez człowieka.Najczęściej stosowany w petrografii podział skał opiera się na ich genezie i obejmuje trzy główne grupy: skały magmowe, skały osadowe i skały metamorficzne (przeobrażone).

Skała – miasto w województwie małopolskim, w powiecie krakowskim, siedziba gminy miejsko-wiejskiej Skała. W latach 1975-1998 miasto administracyjnie należało do woj. krakowskiego. Według danych z 31 grudnia 2006, miasto miało 3404 mieszkańców.Miasto Skała położone jest 20 km od Krakowa.
