Sint-Gillis

Sint-Gillis (Dutch) or Saint-Gilles (French) is one of the nineteen municipalities located in the Brussels-Capital Region of Belgium.Saint-Gilles has a multicultural identity stemming from its diverse population. For example, the central square (French: Place Van Meenen, Dutch: Van Meenenplein) hosts the annual festival of Brussels' Portuguese community. The housing stock varies from semi-derelict tenements near the Midi/Zuid railway station in the north, to elegant patrician houses on the southern borders with Uccle/Ukkel and Ixelles/Elsene, to tourist hotels at the inner end of the Chaussée de Charleroi/Charleroisesteenweg.

Saint-Gilles (frz.) oder Sint-Gillis (niederl.) ist eine belgische Gemeinde im Zentrum der zweisprachigen Hauptstadtregion Brüssel. Sie hat 44.481 Einwohner (Stand 1. Juli 2006) auf nur 2,5 km² Fläche. Sie grenzt unmittelbar südlich an die Brüsseler Altstadt (Porte de Hal/Hallepoort), außerdem an die ebenfalls zur Hauptstadtregion gehörenden Gemeinden Ixelles/Elsene, Forest/Vorst und Anderlecht.

Sint-Gillis (fr. Saint-Gilles) - gmina miejska w Belgii, położona w regionie stołecznym Bruksela, liczy około 44 tys. mieszkańców (2006). Ośrodek przemysłu spożywczego. Popularnie określana " polską dzielnicą" w Brukseli, nawiązując do słynnych Jackowa w Chicago i Greenpointu w Nowym Jorku. W Saint-Gilles znajduje się kaplica Polskiej Misji Katolickiej ( rue Jourdan 80), kilka polskich sklepów i piekarni.

Sint-Gillis (Frans: Saint-Gilles) is een plaats en gemeente in het Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest. De gemeente telt ruim 44.000 inwoners.Sint-Gillis ligt, met de klok mee, ingesloten tussen Anderlecht, Brussel-stad, Elsene en Vorst.
