The Sinai Peninsula or Sinai ( sīnā' ; Hebrew סיני) is a triangular peninsula in Egypt about in area. It is situated between the Mediterranean Sea to the north, and the Red Sea to the south, and is the only part of Egyptian territory located in Asia as opposed to Africa, effectively serving as a land bridge between two continents. The bulk of the peninsula is divided administratively into two of Egypt's 27 governorates (with three more straddling the Suez Canal area), and has a population of approximately 500,000 people. In addition to its formal name, Egyptians also refer to it affectionately as the "Land of Fayrouz", based on the Ancient Egyptian "Dumafkat", which has the same meaning.

Le Sinaï est une péninsule égyptienne d'environ 60 000 km², à la forme triangulaire et située entre la Méditerranée (au nord) et la mer Rouge (au sud). Sa frontière terrestre longe le canal de Suez à l'ouest et la frontière israélo-égyptienne au nord-est. La limite orientale de la péninsule est marquée par une faille tectonique qui écarte, année après année, la mer Rouge. Du pétrole, du fer et du manganèse sont exploités dans le Nord et dans le centre sud. D'anciennes mines existent depuis des millénaires.

Synaj (arab. شبه جزيرة سيناء Shibh Jazīrat Sīnā', hebr. סיני Sinai) - półwysep w kształcie trójkąta, otoczony Morzem Śródziemnym od północy, Zatoką Sueską i kanałem Sueskim od zachodu, Morzem Czerwonym od południa i Zatoką Akaba od wschodu. Półwysep Synaj leży w Azji Zachodniej i jest częścią Egiptu, którego większa część leży w Afryce Północnej. Administracyjnie podzielony jest na dwie prowincje gubernatorskie (muhafazy): Synaj Północny i Synaj Południowy.
