Silesia (English pronunciation [], ; ; ; ; Silesian: Ślůnsk) is a region in central Europe, located along the upper and middle Oder River, upper Vistula River, and along the SudetesCarpathian (Silesian BeskidsSilesian-Moravian Beskids) mountain range. At present most of it is now within the borders of Poland (Silesian VoivodeshipOpole VoivodeshipLower Silesian Voivodeship and Lubusz Voivodeship), with small parts in the Czech Republic (Czech Silesia) and Germany (Silesian-Lusatian Region or Silesian Lusatia: Ger: Schlesische Lausitz / Schlesische Oberlausitz). The largest cities are Wrocław and Katowice.
