Shrek

Shrek is an Academy Award winning animated feature film based upon William Steig's 1990 fairy tale picture book entitled Shrek! It was directed by New Zealander Andrew Adamson and animated by DreamWorks Animation SKG in May 2001. Shrek was the first film to win an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, a category introduced in 2001. It was released on DVD and VHS on November 2 2001.

Shrek! is a picture book written and illustrated by William Steig, written in 1990, about a young ogre who finds the ogre of his dreams when he leaves home to see the world. The name "Shrek" is taken from the German and Yiddish word "Schreck"/"Shreck", meaning "fear, terror".The Academy Award-winning film Shrek is loosely based on the book, with the characters of Shrek and Princess Fiona "evolving" from the book's characters. However, other completely new aspects were added to the film, most notably characters from other fairy tales, such as Snow White and The Gingerbread Man. The film was very popular and has spawned two sequels as of June 2007, Shrek 2 and Shrek the Third.

Shrek – Der tollkühne Held ist ein computeranimierter Kinofilm von DreamWorks aus dem Jahr 2001. Darin wird die Geschichte eines gleichnamigen Ogers erzählt, der in einer realen Märchenwelt lebt und versehentlich in ein Abenteuer um die Rettung einer Prinzessin gerät. Die Geschichte basiert auf einem Kinderbuch von William Steig. Das Wort „Shrek“ ist dem Jiddischen entliehen und entspricht dem deutschen Wort „Schrecken“.

Shrek - amerykański film animowany z 2001 roku w reżyserii Andrew Adamsona i Vicky Jensona będący adaptacją książki Shrek! autorstwa Williama Steiga. W 2001 roku film zdobył Oscara w kategorii najlepszy film animowany pełnometrażowy. Był to pierwszy Oskar w tej kategorii, gdyż nagrodę tę zaczęto przyznawać dopiero od 2001 r. Piosenki w filmie śpiewają: Smash Mouth, Joan Jett, The Proclaimers, Jason Wade, The Baha Men i Rufus Wainwright. Animacja doczekała się kontynuacji w 2004 roku – Shrek 2 i Shrek Trzeci w 2007 roku. Zaplanowane dwie kolejne części: Shrek goes Four (2010) będacy prequelem całej serii oraz Shrek 5 (2013) będący ostatnią częścią.
