Teddy Sheringham was bought by Manchester United in the summer of 1997 for £3.5 million from Tottenham. Although the club have always publically denied this, it is a known fact around Old Trafford that Teddy was bought to replace the recently retired Eric Cantona. Teddy is an experienced international player who began his career with Millwall as an apprentice. In 1999, Edward was in the UCL Final in Barcelona, having seen ManU trail 1-0 for most of the match Teddy came off the bench in the second half and equalised in the first minute of injury-time. Two minutes later United were Champions of Europe, but whatever Teddy does in his United career most fans will remember him for that night in Nou Camp.
