Shasta County, California

Shasta County is a county located in the northern portion of the U.S. state of California, in the Cascade Mountains. As of 2000 the population was 163,256. The county seat is Redding.Among the tourist attractions in Shasta County is Lassen Peak, Shasta Lake, and the Lassen Volcanic National Park.

Shasta County ist ein County im Norden des US-Bundesstaates Kalifornien in der Kaskadenkette. Das County hat eine Fläche von 9956 km² und 163.256 Einwohner. Der Sitz der Countyverwaltung (County Seat) ist in Redding.Shasta County war 1850 eines der Gründungscountys in Kalifornien. Teile davon wurden 1852 an Siskiyou County und 1856 an Tehama County abgetreten. Der Name leitet sich vom Mount Shasta ab, der heute im Siskiyou County liegt und nach dem ursprünglich dort lebenden Indianerstamm benannt wurde.
