Shakespeare

William Shakespeare (baptised 26 April 1564 –  23 April 1616) was an English poet and playwright, now widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's preeminent dramatist. He is often called England's national poet and the "Bard of Avon" (or simply "The Bard"). His surviving works consist of 38 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and several other poems. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright.

William Shakespeare, Szekspir (data ur. kwiecień 1564, data chrztu: 26 kwietnia 1564, miejsce ur. Stratford-upon-Avon, zm. 23 kwietnia 1616 tamże) - angielski poeta, dramaturg, aktor. Powszechnie uważany za jednego z najwybitniejszych pisarzy literatury angielskiej oraz reformatorów teatru. Napisał około 40 sztuk, 154 sonety, a także wiele utworów innych gatunków. Mimo że cieszył się popularnością już za życia, jego sława rosła głównie po jego śmierci, dopiero wtedy został zauważony przez prominentne osobistości. Uważa się go za poetę narodowego Anglii.

Benché fosse già molto popolare in vita, divenne incredibilmente famoso dopo la sua morte e i suoi lavori furono esaltati e celebrati da numerosi ed importanti personaggi dei secoli seguenti; è spesso considerato inoltre il poeta rappresentativo del popolo inglese , soprannominato anche il Bardo dell'Avon (o semplicemente Il Bardo) oppure il Cigno dell'Avon.
