Shaivism

Shaivism, also spelled Saivism, encompasses the traditions of Hinduism that focus on the deity Shiva. Followers of the tradition are called Shaiva(s)or Shaivite and worship Shiva as the supreme God. The worship of Shiva is a pan-Hindu tradition, practiced widely across many parts of South Asia, especially India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

Zum Shivaismus zählen jene Strömungen des Hinduismus, in der Shiva die zentrale Rolle als höchste Gottheit und Allwesen zukommt, der alle anderen Götter überragt und diese so wie das gesamte Universum aus sich hervorgehen lässt. Der Shivaismus ist eine Form der Religion, bei der Gott als gleichzeitig immanent und transzendent gedacht wird. Der Shivaismus beinhaltet sowohl differenzierte kultische Handlungen als auch komplexe philosophisch – theologische Systeme (vgl. Samkhya), die hier nur vereinfacht dargestellt werden können. Es entwickelte sich eine shivaitische Literatur, die achtundzwanzig orthodoxe Agamas und ca. zweihundert zusätzliche Texte umfasst. Eine wesentliche Textquelle sind die Puranas.

Śiwaizm, sziwaizm (sanskrycka litera श transliterowana i wymawiana jest jako "ś") - monoteistyczny odłam hinduistyczny uznający Śiwę za jedynego Boga. Śiwaici uważają, że Bóg jednocześnie znajduje się w całym wszechświecie i wszystkich jego stworzeniach (immanencja), a także poza nim (transcendencja). Podobnie jak w przypadku innych religii hinduistycznych, śiwaici uznają istnienie wielu innych pomniejszych bogów, ale są oni zwykle widziani jako manifestacje Śiwy, taka odmiana monoteizmu nazywana jest monizmem.

Shaivisme is een stroming in het hindoeïsme waarin Shiva wordt vereerd als de Hoogste vorm van God.Het shaivisme is monotheïstisch en shaivisten geloven dat er maar één God is die gelijktijdig de gehele schepping doordringt (immanentie) en er bovenuit stijgt (transcendentie). Dit concept staat in contrast met veel van de abrahamitische religieuze tradities, waar God alleen als transcendent gezien wordt. Net zoals bij de andere hindoe stromingen erkent het shaivisme nog andere, lagere goden die aan de Hoogste God ondergeschikt zijn. Die andere goden worden gezien als manifestaties van het Hoogste Wezen (Kosmisch Bewustzijn) of als machtige wezens die net als de rest van de schepping door Hem worden doordrongen. Dit type monotheïsme wordt panentheïsme of monistisch theïsme genoemd.
