Serpens

Serpens (IPA: , Latin for "snake") is one of the 88 modern constellations, and was also one of the 48 listed by Ptolemy. Among the modern constellations it is unique in being split into two pieces, Serpens Caput (representing the head of the snake) to the west and Serpens Cauda (representing the tail) to the east. Between these two pieces lies the constellation of Ophiuchus, the serpent holder.

Jest to jedna z 48 konstelacji opisanych przez Ptolemeusza, a zarazem jedna z 88 obecnie, oficjalnie rozróżnianych.Jego specyfika wynika z tego, że jest podzielony na dwie części Głowę Węża (łac. Serpens Caput) oraz Ogon Węża (łac. Serpens Cauda). Dawniej tworzył on jeden gwiazdozbiór wraz z Wężownikiem. Teraz jego dwie części leżą po przeciwnych stronach tego gwiazdobioru.

Il Serpente (in latino Serpens) è una delle 88 costellazioni moderne, ed era anche una delle 48 elencate da Tolomeo. È l'unica delle moderne costellazioni ad essere divisa in due parti: la Testa del Serpente (Serpens Caput) ad ovest e la Coda del Serpente (Serpens Cauda) ad est. Tra queste due parti si trova la costellazione di Ofiuco, colui che porta il serpente.
