Serj Tankian

Serj Tankian (born August 21, 1967 in Beirut, Lebanon) is a Lebanese-born  Armenian-American songwriter, poet, activist, and musician. He is best known as the lead vocalist, keyboardist and rhythm guitarist of the alternative metal band System of a Down, as well as, along with Tom Morello, the co-founder of Axis of Justice, a nonprofit organization. He made five albums with System of a Down and released a new solo album, Elect the Dead, on October 23, 2007.

Serj Adam Tankian (ur. 21 sierpnia 1967 w Bejrucie w Libanie) - muzyk, instrumentalista i wokalista grupy muzycznej System of a Down. Obecnie zamieszkały w Los Angeles.W wieku 7 lat przeniósł się wraz z rodzicami i z młodszym bratem do Los Angeles. Jest z pochodzenia Ormianinem, tak samo jak pozostali członkowie zespołu. Uczęszczał do ormiańskiej szkoły Rose and Alex Pilibos. Po ukończeniu college'u założył własną firmę produkującą oprogramowanie komputerowe - Ultimate Solutions.

I suoi genitori sono di origini armene. Oltre ad essere polistrumentista (canta, suona la chitarra e le tastiere), scrive anche poesie. E' conosciuto soprattutto per il suo ruolo di cantante nel gruppo musicale alternative metal statunitense System of a Down, del quale è anche co-fondatore assieme al chitarrista e seconda voce Daron Malakian; gli altri membri dei System of a Down sono: John Dolmayan  (batteria);Shavo Odadjian (basso). Tutti i componenti del complesso sono di origini armene. Nel 2002 inoltre ha fondato insieme, tra gli altri, a Tom Morello (ex chitarrista degli Rage Against the Machine) un'organizzazione attivista politica no-profit chiamata Axis of Justice.
