Seoul (서울) [] is the capital of South Korea  and is located on the Han River in the country's northwest. The city is situated about 50 km (~30 mi) south of the North Korean border, also known as the de-militarised zone (DMZ). Seoul is a city with ancient history, the area of Seoul appears in history as early as 18 BCE, when the kingdom of Baekje founded its capital, Wiryeseong, in what is now southeastern Seoul. Modern Seoul descends from a city called Hanyang, built during the Goryeo era, which then became the capital of the Joseon dynasty in 1394. Seoul has been the capital of successive Korean nations ever since.Designated the status of a Special City, Seoul is administered directly by the national government.

Séoul (en hangeul : 서울) est, depuis plus de 600 ans, la capitale de la Corée et, depuis la guerre de Corée, la capitale de la République de Corée. C'est aussi la plus grande ville de la péninsule coréenne. Le nom de la ville dérive de l'ancien coréen Seorabeol ou Seobeol, qui signifie « ville capitale ». La ville a été connue dans le passé par plusieurs noms successifs : Wiryeseong (위례성 ; 慰禮城 ; Paekche), Hanyang (한양; 漢陽) et Hanseong (한성; 漢城; période Koryo et période Chosŏn). Elle est située sur le fleuve Han, au nord-ouest du pays. La zone démilitarisée (DMZ), quant à elle, est à environ 45 kilomètres du centre-ville.

Seoul (, ; siehe auch Namen Seouls) ist die Hauptstadt Südkoreas. Vom 29. November 1394 bis zur Teilung des Landes 1948 war sie die Hauptstadt ganz Koreas. Auch die Verfassung Nordkoreas sah Seoul als Hauptstadt vor, eine Verfassungsänderung erhob jedoch im Dezember 1972 Pjöngjang zur Hauptstadt der KDVR, deren Führung dort nach dem zweiten Weltkrieg einen provisorischen Regierungssitz eingerichtet hatte.

Seul (kor. 서울, Seoul, Sŏul; ) to od ponad 600 lat stolica Korei. Od końca II wojny światowej po podziale Półwyspu Koreańskiego na dwa państwa Seul został stolicą Republiki Koreańskiej (Korei Południowej), a Pjongjang stał się stolicą Koreańskiej Republiki Ludowej (Korei Północnej). Podczas wojny koreańskiej przez krótki czas Seul był zajęty przez komunistycznych okupantów, a stolicę Korei Południowej przeniesiono do innego miasta. Seul znajduje się w centralno-zachodniej części Półwyspu Koreańskiego. Miasto położone jest niedaleko na południe od strefy zdemilitaryzowanej (DMZ) i leży nad rzeką Han. Seul jest politycznym, społecznym oraz ekonomicznym centrum Południowej Korei.

Seoul o Seul (in coreano 서울특별시 o Kyonggi; vecchi nomi Kyongsong, Hanyang), come nome breve 서울 (Sŏul), è la capitale (10.628.000 ab.) della Corea del Sud. Situata nel nordovest del paese, poco più a sud della Zona Demilitarizzata Coreana, sul fiume Han. La città è centro politico, culturale, sociale ed economico del paese. È centro degli affari, della finanza e delle multinazionali. Ciò, unito alla sua funzione di capitale, ne fa una delle più ampie economie mondiali. Oggi, la città è il segno visibile del “Miracolo del fiume Han” dell’economia coreana.
