Senones

The Senones were a Gallic people of Gallia Celtica, who in the time of Julius Caesar inhabited the district which now includes the departments of Seine-et-Marne, Loiret and Yonne.From 53-51 B.C. they were engaged in hostilities with Caesar brought about by their expulsion of Cavarinus, whom he had appointed their king. In 51 B.C., a Senonian named Drappes threatened the Provincia, but was captured and starved himself to death. From this time the Gallic Senones disappear from history. In later times they were included in Gallia Lugdunensis. Their chief towns were Agedincum (later Senones, whence Sens), Metiosedum (Melun; according to A. Holder, Meudon), and Vellaunodunum (site uncertain).

Les Sénons (Senones) était un des peuples gaulois. Ils occupaient la région du Sénonais, s'étendant sur une partie des départements actuels de l'Yonne, de l'Aube, de Seine-et-Marne et de la Côte-d'Or. Ils donnèrent leur nom à la ville de Sens qui était leur capitale sous le nom d'Agendicum.

Senones (deutsch: Sens) ist eine Stadt in den Vogesen, Lothringen, Frankreich.Senones führt seinen Namen auf einen Erzbischof von Sens (franz.: Senones) zurück. Die Stadt zählt etwa 3000 Einwohner. Als bauliche Sehenswürdigkeiten sind ein Kloster und zwei Schlösser hervorzuheben. Senones war bis zur Annexion durch Frankreich im Jahre 1793 die Hauptstadt des reichsunmittelbaren Fürstentums Salm-Salm. Im Frieden von Lunéville (1801) trat das Heilige Römische Reich Deutscher Nation alle linksrheinischen Länder an Frankreich ab. Der letzte Fürst des Fürstentums Salm-Salm war Konstantin Alexander Joseph zu Salm-Salm.

Die Senonen (lateinisch: Senones) waren ein keltischer Stamm des Altertums, der möglicherweise aus zwei gleichnamigen Zweigen eines Volkes bestand. Sie siedelten in Gallien und später in Norditalien südlich des Flusses Po.

Senones to miejscowość i gmina we Francji, w regionie Lotaryngia, w departamencie Vosges.Według danych na rok 1990 gminę zamieszkiwało 3 157 osób, a gęstość zaludnienia wynosiła 169 osób/km² (wśród 2335 gmin  Lotaryngii Senones plasuje się na 138. miejscu pod względem liczby ludności, natomiast pod względem powierzchni na miejscu 211.).

Senonowie - historyczne plemię celtyckie, które zasiedlało okolice dzisiejszych miast: Sens, Auxerre i Melun w górnym biegu Sekwany. Część członków tego plemienia w 400 r. p.n.e. przeszła Alpy i osiedliła się na Nizinie Padańskiej, w dzisiejszej Umbrii, gdzie założyli miasto Sena. Z plemienia Senonów wywodził się Brennus, który w r. 386 p.n.e. zadał klęskę wojskom rzymskim pod Allią i zdobył Rzym. Rzymianie prowadzili z Senonami permanentne walki, aż konsul Dolabella całkowicie ich zniszczył w r. 283 p.n.e. Senonowie byli jednym z wielu plemion celtyckich, które w tym czasie próbowały osiedlić się w Italii i Etrurii.
