SEED
For other meanings of seed, see seed (disambiguation). SEED is a block cipher developed by the Korean Information Security Agency. It is used broadly throughout South Korean industry, but seldom found elsewhere. It gained popularity in Korea because 40 bit SSL was not considered strong enough (see Transport Layer Security#Early short keys), so the Korean Information Security Agency developed its own standard. However, this decision has limited the competition of web browsers in Korea, as no major SSL libraries or web browsers currently support the SEED algorithm, and users are limited to using ActiveX components with Internet Explorer for secure web sites.

Seed
A seed is a small embryonic plant enclosed in a covering called the seed coat, usually with some stored food. It is the product of the ripened ovule of gymnosperm and angiosperm plants which occurs after fertilization and some growth within the mother plant. The formation of the seed completes the process of reproduction in seed plants (started with the development of flowers and pollination), with the embryo developed from the zygote and the seed coat from the integuments of the ovule.
