Sea of Azov

The Sea of Azov ( - Azovskoye more; - Azovs'ke more, ) is a northern section of the Black Sea, linked to the larger body through the Strait of Kerch. It is bounded on the north by Ukraine, on the east by Russia and on the west by the Crimean peninsula.The Black Sea deluge theory dates the genesis of the Sea of Azov to 5600 BC, and there are traces of Neolithic settlement in the area now covered by it. In antiquity, it was known as the Maeotian Lake or Maeotian Sea (Greek  and Latin Palus Maeotis), after the tribe of Maeotae which inhabited the Maeotian marshes to the east from the sea.

La mer d'Azov (en , ; en , ; en ) est une mer intracontinentale relié à la mer Noire au nord par le détroit de Kertch. Mer peu profonde, elle s'étend sur une superficie de et est bordée à l'ouest et au nord par l'Ukraine, à l'est par la Russie et au sud par la presqu'île de Crimée (Ukraine) et la péninsule de Taman (Russie), toutes deux séparées par le détroit de Kertch.

Das Asowsche Meer (ukrainisch Азовське море, russisch Азовское море, in der Antike auch Palus Maeotis oder Maiotis) ist ein Nebenmeer des Schwarzen Meeres und liegt in Osteuropa. Die Stadt Asow an der Mündung des Don ist Namensgeber für das Binnenmeer.

Morze Azowskie (ros. Азовское море; ukr. Азовське море) – część Morza Czarnego znajdująca się u wybrzeży Ukrainy (Półwysep Kerczeński) oraz Rosji (Półwysep Tamański) łącząca się z nim przez Cieśninę Kerczeńską. Powierzchnia morza wynosi blisko 38 tys. km², średnia głębokość 7 m, a maksymalna dochodzi do 13,5 m. Temperatura wód powierzchniowych wynosi ok. -1°C w zimie i 25-27°C w lecie, a zasolenie waha się pomiędzy 12 a 14 ‰.

Il Mar d'Azov (russo: Азо́вское мо́ре - Azovskoye more; ucraino: Азо́вське мо́ре - Azovs'ke more) è una sezione settentrionale del Mar Nero, collegata al corpo d'acqua principale dallo Stretto di Kerch. È limitato a nord dall'Ucraina, ad est dalla Russia e ad ovest dalla penisola di Crimea. Ad ovest si trova anche l'Arabat, un cordone sabbioso lungo circa 110 km, che separa il Mar d'Azov dalla laguna altamente salina di Sivaš. Nell'antica Grecia era conosciuto come Lago Meotiano o Mare Meotiano.
