Scottish people
The Scottish people (Scottish Gaelic: Albannach) are a nation and an ethnic group indigenous to Scotland. As an ethnic group, Scots are a composition of groups such as PictsGaelsBrythonsAngles, and Norse. In modern use, "Scottish people" or "Scots" refers to anyone born or living in Scotland; or a person who is descended from ethnic Scots and identifies as a Scottish person. Synonyms for the Scottish people include Scots and, though sometimes considered archaic or pejorative, Scotch. While the Latin word Scoti originally applied to an Irish/Scottish Gaelic tribe in the north of Ireland and western Scotland that lived in the northern part of Ireland, and the western part of what is now Scotland in the 5th century the term Scots is now used to describe all Scottish people.
