Scotland

Scotland (Gaelic: Alba, Scots: Scotland) is a nation in northwest Europe and one of the four constituent countries of the United Kingdom. It occupies the northern third of the island of Great Britain and shares a land border to the south with England. It is bounded by the North Sea to the east, the Atlantic Ocean to the north and west, and the North Channel and Irish Sea to the southwest. Apart from the mainland, Scotland consists of over 790 islands.

Schottland (engl. und Scots: Scotland, gäl.: Alba [], lat.-kelt.: Caledonia) ist ein Land im Nordwesten Europas und ein Landesteil des Vereinigten Königreichs Großbritannien und Nordirland. Schottland besteht aus dem nördlichen Teil der größten europäischen Insel Großbritannien sowie mehreren Inselgruppen. Bis 1707 war es ein eigenständiges Königreich, in jenem Jahr wurde es mit dem Königreich England  – mit dem es bereits seit 1603 in  Personalunion regiert wurde – vereinigt. Die Hauptstadt von Schottland ist  Edinburgh.

Szkocja - (ang. Scotland, gael. Alba) - dawniej niezależne królestwo, obecnie część Zjednoczonego Królestwa Wielkiej Brytanii i Irlandii Północnej. Obejmuje północną część wyspy Wielkiej Brytanii oraz Hebrydy, Orkady i Szetlandy. Od południa graniczy z Anglią. Krajobraz w przeważającej części wyżynny i górski. Klimat umiarkowanie ciepły, wybitnie morski. Na północy Szkocji Góry Kaledońskie i Grampiany, na południu Wyżyna Południowoszkocka. W centrum niewielka Nizina Środkowoszkocka skupiająca większą część ludności.

La Scozia (ing. e sco. Scotland, gae. scoz. Alba) è una delle quattro nazioni costitutive del Regno Unito. Anticamente chiamata Caledonia, occupa la porzione settentrionale della Gran Bretagna. Un tempo regno indipendente, dal 1707, con l'Atto di Unione entrò a far parte del Regno di Gran Bretagna, assieme all'Inghilterra. I regni di Scozia e Inghilterra erano peraltro già uniti dinasticamente dal 1603.
