Science is a systematic enterprise that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the universe. In an older and closely related meaning (found, for example, in Aristotle), "science" refers to the body of reliable knowledge itself, of the type that can be logically and rationally explained (see History and philosophy below). Since classical antiquity science as a type of knowledge was closely linked to philosophy. In the early modern era the words "science" and "philosophy" were sometimes used interchangeably in the English language. By the 17th century, natural philosophy (which is today called "natural science") was considered a separate branch of philosophy. However, "science" continued to be used in a broad sense denoting reliable knowledge about a topic, in the same way it is still used in modern terms such as library science or political science.

S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is the second album by American rock band Incubus, released on September 9, 1997. The album was certified Gold by the RIAA. It has been mentioned by lead singer Brandon Boyd that the acronym S.C.I.E.N.C.E. stands for Sailing Catamarans Is Every Nautical Captain's Ecstacy.

Science (englisch für Wissenschaft) ist die Fachzeitschrift der American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS, Amerikanische Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Naturwissenschaften) und gilt neben Nature als die weltweit wichtigste ihrer Art. Die wöchentlich veröffentlichte Zeitschrift arbeitet nach dem Prinzip des Peer-Review und hat ungefähr 130.000 Abonnenten. Da zum einen unter diesen viele Institutionen wie Universitäten sind und die Zeitschrift andererseits auch über eine Online-Ausgabe verfügt, wird die tatsächliche Zahl der Leser auf etwa 1 Million geschätzt.

Wissenschaft ist die Erweiterung des Wissens durch Forschung, seine Weitergabe durch Lehre, der gesellschaftliche, historische und institutionelle Rahmen, in dem dies organisiert betrieben wird, sowie die Gesamtheit des so erworbenen menschlichen Wissens. Forschung ist die methodische Suche nach neuen Erkenntnissen sowie deren systematische Dokumentation und Veröffentlichung in Form von wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten. Lehre ist die Weitergabe der Grundlagen des wissenschaftlichen Forschens und die Vermittlung eines Überblicks über das Wissen eines Forschungsfelds, den aktuellen Stand der Forschung.
