Saul

Saul (שאול המלך) (or Sha'ul) is identified in the Books of Samuel, 1 Chronicles and the Qur'an as the first king of the ancient Kingdom of Israel. Saul reigned from Gibeah for some two decades at the close of the second millennium B.C. When his reign succumbed to a Philistine onslaught, a part of his kingdom fell to the Philistines, while the remainder was contested by his surviving son Ish-bosheth and rival David. Saul's traditional biography in the Books of Samuel reveals two main sources, independent of each other.

Saül is a commune of French Guiana, an overseas département of France located in South America.It is very remote, surrounded by dense rainforest and, because there are no roads to the town, it can only be reached by airplane.The principal activities in the town are gold mining and trekking through the many rainforest trails. There is a tourist camp (Larozaly) and hotel (Les Eaux Claires) in the town.

Saül est une commune française, du canton de Maripasoula, dans le département de la Guyane. Saül se situe au cœur de la forêt amazonienne à environ 180 km au sud de Cayenne. La population, constituée essentiellement de Créoles, de métropolitains, ainsi que de quelques hmongs et brésiliens, varie selon les saisons entre 70 et 200 personnes.

Nach der Bibel war Saul (hebr.  Ša’ûl oder Sha'ul - „der Erbetene“) um 1000 v. Chr. der erste König Israels. Bisher gibt es keinerlei außerbiblische Zeugnisse für die Existenz dieses Stammesfürsten oder Königs, die zeitlich genaue Fixierung seiner Regierungszeit ist ebenfalls extrem schwierig.

Saul (שאול המלך), o italianizzato Saule, è un personaggio biblico, era il primo re del Regno di Israele. Era figlio di Kish ed apparteneva alla tribù di Beniamino.Secondo la narrazione del libro di Samuele, Saul si era recato da Samuele a Ramah per consultarlo, ed il sacerdote lo unse segretamente come Re, per ispirazione di "YHWH".Poco dopo, Samuele radunò l'assemblea del popolo di Israele a Mizpa, dove Saul fu estratto a sorte come Re. In seguito Saul condusse una campagna militare vittoriosa contro gli Ammoniti, confermandosi così nel favore popolare e nella carica. Nella successiva guerra contro i Filistei, Saul con la propria condotta aggressiva, disgustò l'anziano Samuele, che si allontanò da lui. La guerra fu vinta per l'audace imboscata di Gionata, figlio prediletto del Re, contro il campo filisteo.
