Sargodha

Sargodha (Urdu: سرگودھا) is the capital city of Sargodha District in Punjab province, Pakistan, it is located in northeast Pakistan, to the west-northwest of Lahore on the lower Jhelum Canal. It is an agricultural trade centre with varied industries. The population estimate for Sargodha city (2007) is 686,312, for the tehsil 10,81,459 and for the district 26,65,979. Sargodha is one of three "planned cities" in Pakistan (the other two are Faisalabad and Islamabad)

Sargodha ist eine Großstadt in der pakistanischen Provinz Punjab. Sie liegt 175 km westlich der Metropole  Lahore und etwa gleich weit südlich der Hauptstadt Islamabad. Sargodha hatte bei der letzten Volkszählung (1998) 458.440 Einwohner. Ihre Wirtschaft ist traditionell landwirtschaftlich geprägt, aber sie ist auch Standort einer Universität und von Pakistans größter Luftwaffenbasis.
