Sarajevo (Cyrillic: Сарајево) is the capital and largest city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with an estimated population of over 311,161 people within its administrative limits. It is also the capital of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina entity, as well as the center of the Sarajevo Canton, which has a population of 438,757. Nestled within the greater Sarajevo valley of Bosnia, it is surrounded by the Dinaric Alps and situated along the Miljacka River in the heart of Southeastern Europe and the Balkans.

Sarajevo (; dt. auch Sarajewo; türkisch: Saraybosna) ist die Hauptstadt und Regierungssitz von Bosnien und Herzegowina, der Föderation Bosnien und Herzegowina (Federacija Bosne i Hercegovine/FBiH) und des Kantons Sarajevo. Zudem war es bis 2008 offizielle Hauptstadt der Republika Srpska.

Sarajevo (prononcer Sarayévo ; en cyrillique, Сарајево ; anciennement Bosna-Seraï) est la capitale et la plus grande ville de Bosnie-Herzégovine. Avant la guerre, le dernier recensement de 1991 évaluait la population à habitants et de nos jours, la population de Sarajevo est estimée à environ Sarajéviens.

Sarajevo är huvudstaden i Bosnien och Hercegovina, Sarajevo har ca 0,3 miljoner invånare (fyra kommuner) under Juni 2008. Kommunens area är 1 900 km² (augusti 2009). Den är belägen på Sarajevofältet (500 meter över havet), omgiven av bergskedjorna Bjelasnica, Igman, Jahorina och Trebevic. Av stadens befolkning är cirka 80 procent bosniaker (muslimer), 10 procent ortodoxa serber, 8 procent katoliker (kroater) och 2 procent övriga.

Sarajewo (bośn. Sarajevo, Сарајево, tur. Saraybosna) – stolica Bośni i Hercegowiny zamieszkana przez 303 tys. osób (2007). Założone w 1462 r. przez Turków Osmańskich. W 1914 r. miejsce zabójstwa arcyksięcia Franciszka Ferdynanda. W 1984 r. odbyły się tu Zimowe Igrzyska Olimpijskie. Silnie zniszczone w rezultacie działań wojennych 1992-1995, ma obecnie 4 gminy (općina): Centar, Novi Grad, Novo Sarajevo, Stari Grad – w części chorwacko-muzułmańskiej. Osobno liczone jest Wschodnie Sarajewo (ok. 100 tys. mieszkańców), część Republiki Serbskiej.
