Sappho

Sappho (Attic Greek  , Aeolic Greek  ) was an Ancient Greek lyric poet, born on the island of Lesbos. In history and poetry texts, she is sometimes associated with the city of Mytilene on Lesbos (Carson 2002); she was also said to have been born in Eresos, another city on Lesbos. Her birth was sometime between 630 BC and 612 BC, and it is said that she died around 570 BC. The bulk of her poetry, which was well-known and greatly admired throughout antiquity, has been lost, but her immense reputation has endured through surviving fragments.

Sappho (deutsche Aussprache: ; attisches Griechisch  , Aussprache (klassisch) , aiolisches Griechisch  , Aussprache (klassisch) ; * zwischen 630 v. Chr. und 612 v. Chr.; † um 570 v. Chr.) war eine antike griechische Dichterin, gilt als bedeutendste Lyrikerin des klassischen Altertums und gehört zum Kanon der neun Lyriker. Sie lebte in Mytilene auf der Insel Lesbos, einem kulturellen Zentrum des 7. vorchristlichen Jahrhunderts. Nach heutigen Schätzungen sind nur ca. 7 Prozent von ihrem Gesamtwerk erhalten geblieben.

Safona, Safo, Sapfo (gr. , łac. Sappho) – najsławniejsza poetka  starożytnej Grecji z przełomu VII i VI wieku p.n.e., wybitna przedstawicielka poezji lirycznej (liryka eolska).Pochodziła z Mityleny na wyspie Lesbos. Była córką Skamadrymanosa i Kleuis. Uważa się, że pochodziła z rodziny arystokratycznej. Wyszła za mąż za bogatego kupca. W czasie rozruchów na wyspie musiała z niej uchodzić. Schroniła się na Sycylii, później jednak powróciła na Lesbos. Według legendy zakochała się nieszczęśliwie w Faonie i skoczyła ze skały na wyspie Leukas.

Saffo ( in greco), poetessa greca vissuta tra il VII e il VI secolo a.C., figlia di Scamandro o Scamandronimo e di Cleide, nacque a Ereso, nell'isola di Lesbo, attorno al 640 a.C. ma trascorse la maggior parte della propria vita a Mitilene, la città più importante dell'isola.Non si conoscono né la data della sua morte, anche se da un suo componimento si può desumere che abbia raggiunto la tarda età, né le circostanze in cui avvenne.
