Sambo has its roots in traditional folk styles of wrestling such as Armenian Koch, Georgian Chidaoba, Moldovan Trîntǎ, Uzbek KurashMongolian Khapsagay and Azerbaijani Gulesh (wrestling style). In 1980, Sambo was a demonstration sport at the Olympic Games in Moscow, Russia.
